Flower And Plant Crafts

Crafts that involve plants or flowers some way are really fun and can be a great treat to do around your home. They also work really well as a way of decorating part of your home and of teaching children more about nature. There are plenty of great ways to get started so read on for some fun tips about how to use flowers and plants in your crafts at home.

Flowers are especially great for unique crafts and they work well in all kinds of different projects. Real flowers are lovely to have in your home and they can be fun to design and decorate with as well as to map out your garden with. You also may want to look into learning how to do some flower arranging so that you can have nice bouquets of them around your home to keep it looking and smelling lovely. You can also use flowers in various types of meals and cooking as long as you’re careful about what kind you use and make sure that they are edible - they also work particularly well as a garnish.

Another great way to work with flowers, plants, and even some herbs, is to dry them and use them to artfully arrange your home. If you receive a lovely bouquet of flowers or spend some time picking and arranging them yourself don’t just let them wither and die once they’ve made it to your home. Instead take them out of their water and gently dry them off with a paper towel. Carefully secure an elastic band around the stems and then let them hang upside down in a cool and dark place until they’ve dried out completely. You can then hang them on a nail just like you would a picture and decorate your home with them.

Flowers also make beautiful pictures and instead of drying them you can press them by putting them between pieces of wax paper and placing them inside of a heavy book and letting them get dried out and “pressed” until they are flat. Do this with a few different types of flowers and then once you have a lovely collection of them very carefully take them out and arrange them in a glass frame. You’ll want to carefully glue them down to the glass to make sure that once you stand the frame up the flowers don’t all fall to the bottom and get ruined. Frame the glass carefully and make sure you hang it somewhere out of the light so that the sun won’t fade the color of your flowers as quickly.

With plants you can always be sure that they will brighten up your home. It’s easy to get crafty with your plants, not only by combining them in certain pots with other flowers to create a nice arrangement but also by using beautiful pots to display them in. Children love to decorate their own flower pots so that can be a lot of fun for them. Adults may want to make their own pots (either by hand or by throwing them on a pottery wheel) and it can also be fun to do a mosaic look to them by using broken pieces of colorful tile to decorate the outside of the pot. This is a fun and very creative way to use crafts and plants to make your home more beautiful.

You can also use dried or fake flowers and plants to make wreaths and arrangements to hang on your front door and these can be very festive and tailored to the holiday. The only thing to remember is that dried flowers are very delicate so you want to be sure that no one is brushing up against them or shutting any doors too hard or you might lose some of your pretty dried leaves or flower buds. Just be careful and they should be just find and last a long while too.

Plants and flowers make great starting points for crafts and they can go a long way to making your home even more beautiful without requiring a lot of time, effort, or money. Get creative and find lots of interesting new ways you can use plants and flowers to make your home look great.
