Birthday Party Crafts
Birthday parties are wonderful times to do crafts especially if it’s a party for a younger child because they often enjoy crafts much more than older children do and tend to be a lot more enthusiastic about them. But regardless of how old the birthday guest is a craft party can be a great way to involve both family and friends in celebrating the birthday of a friend. Plus crafts can be a great way for family and friends to show how much they care about another person by engaging with someone in a more home made kind of way instead of just buying another present at the store for them.
For children, birthday crafts can range all over the place with everything from paper mache pinatas, to home made presents, to decorating their own treats and place cards. Many children also love to make jewelry or little racing cars (the pinewood derby style) and paint those as well as creating dresses for little dolls, planting their own seeds in little pots, decorating plates, bowls, or cups and even decorating their own sunglasses, hats or clothes. Children love to do tye-dye shirts and socks and bandannas so that’s a great option as long as you have an outdoor space to do it in. It can also be a lot of fun to simply do painting. If you get a big sheet of paper and roll it out on some cement or grass outside and supply some paint children will take off and have a blast with their creations and art. Another thing children really like is pottery and sculpting, whether you use play-dough or actual clay you can always count on children loving to build their own little creations with their hands. Children can sit for hours and make little animals, people, and other figures so if you’re ok with them getting a bit messy this can be a great activity for a birthday party. Crafts like this are great because they also provide little party favors for children to take home and show their parents at the end of the night.
For adults you can employ the same methods and they’ll often revert to being a bit more child like which can be a lot of fun for everyone. Adults too will also enjoy pottery, painting, drawing and so forth and many like scrap booking, photography, cooking a lot of other different activities as well. If you want to stick close to the birthday theme you can have everyone decorate their own cupcakes to share with each other or help decorate one large cake to surprise the birthday person with. Adults also enjoy more complex projects like creating mosaics and taking on slightly more advanced forms of art like throwing pottery on a wheel. Often times it can be fun to rent out a studio or something similar to it for just a night for all the guests of the party to come and enjoy. Doing a group craft with adults can be a great way to give one big present to the birthday person as well like a big dinner where everyone contributes one dish or a collage of photographs where each guest has take one of the photos. This can be a lot more meaningful than receiving a lot of store bought gifts.
Crafts can be a really great way to celebrate a birthday party for children or for adults so just get some good ideas about what your guest would enjoy the most and what their friends or family would have fun doing and try a few things out!
